Do you remember years ago when there was this big rap war between rappers from the East and the West coasts of the US? Well, not that it has anything to do with it, but we are going on a big trip visiting both coasts next week!
We had been planning for a while to go to California, first of all to visit O’s friend J from the Dominican Republic (he used to live in Brussels) and to see the west coast for the first time. Then, I started thinking – don’t I have somebody to visit? Of course, my friend C from Vancouver (who studied in Lund, Sweden in 2000) lives in California and just happened to move to San Francisco – check out his sporadic blog, he’s an amazing photographer! And then there are all the Swedish bloggers in California; JaCal, Monica, Ing, Lotta K… I am hoping to meet up with some of them as well.
Then there was a change in plans, O just got a new position within the company (still in the same factory here in PR) and has to be in New Jersey next week. He suggested that we could meet in Newark afterwards to fly out west. I, on the other hand saw a perfect opportunity to visit NYC and even experience a little winter / spring this year… So, I decided that I will come with O for a few days to the east coast! And wait a minute, don’t I know somebody in New York… of course, Saltistjejen! So, now I am hopefully meeting up with yet another blogger-friend, how cool isn’t that!?*

Our plan is to spend a few days in San Francisco and then drive along the coast down to the border with Mexico. O has another friend, a Mexican who lives in Tijuana – and before you say anything, yes we know that it is an extremely dodgy and dangerous place but we do want to see this friend. We will arrange it somehow so that we avoid the dangers of the Mexican border town 😉
*) I think that O is starting to dispair, wherever we go, I “find” somebody to meet up with – this trip was supposed to be about meeting his friends for once… When we went to NYC together in 2005 I just happened to have FOUR friends from Spain, Austria and Germany visiting the city at the same time and I wanted to meet them of course!
