I have been challenged by Swedish blogger Millan to show what I like the most and the least with our home*. It is a bit tricky when it comes to our home as it is a furnished apartment and the furniture does not necessarily reflect our style or taste.
But here I go:
The best about our home:
The huge living room!
The living room is almost as big as a normal apartment in some European cities! What you don’t see from the camera angle is the dining area which is also part of the living room.
The sea view!
We have sea views from the five windows in the living room, as well as in the two guest bedrooms and from an angle in our master bedroom.
The apartment is very big and we are really happy that we have 3 bedrooms, however the 3 bathrooms could have been 2 (there seems to be an on-going American obession with the number of bathrooms in homes).
The windows by the sink in the kitchen
I love the kitchen as it has lots of storage space, and work tops. And I especially like the windows by the sink – not a sea view but it’s good enough for me! The big fridge and freezer are another great aspect of this kitchen, especially after having lived with a small fridge and tiny freezer compartment in Brussels for 5,5 years.
The service elevator that comes straight up in the kitchen from our parking space
Or just the fact that we have an elevator in the building (there are two) – of course necessary when you live on the 9th floor (out of 18) but how I hated carrying heavy shopping up the 3 flights of stairs in Belgium! And we love that we have parking in the building, in Brussels we had to waste so much time every day looking for parking in the street.
The tiny balcony
The tiny balcony is facing east from the master bedroom, at least it is nice to wake up to the sunrise. If you go back to the first photo of the livingroom, you can see that there used to be a baloncy where the floor is made of wood. However, many apartment owners in the building have converted this space into a part of the livingroom. A pity but you can’t have everything!
The tiny sofas
We don’t like that the sofas (see livingroom photo) are too small to lie on – and also too small for two persons. In Brussels we had quite an uncomfortable sofa in the livingroom, or rather it was not a very comfortable sofa to sit on. However it was perfect for naps and for two persons to lie on while watching tv. Yes, we are quite lazy… 😉
In general I have to say that I love our apartment and I don’t want to sound ungrateful by complaining. It is a great place, lots of space for all our guests, and close to the sea and the beach.
*) I am not challenging anybody as it seems like a lot of bloggers have already received the challenge, however let me know if you are planning to show your home’s best and worse…
