Just checked Caribbean Cinemas’ web-site and they don’t seem to be planning to show Mamma Mia in Puerto Rico😦 I knew that I should have watched it in Sweden before I left… Somehow I can’t see how an ABBA-based musical film would be popular in Puerto Rico where they seem to love action, action and more action (at least based on the repertoire of the chain Caribbean Cinemas*).
I am sure that O is happy though, he claims that I told him early on in our relationship that I hate ABBA, and had he known… well, I am Swedish after all and ABBA is part of my childhood! So I would never say that I hate the group, only that I don’t like Dancing Queen – a completely overrated song according to me!
My favourites are Knowing me, knowing you and One of us (when I was a child it was I kissed the teacher) – which one is yours?
When I was 13-14 I had a phase of loving Chess – the musical written by the two ABBA-guys, Björn and Benny. The story is turning around two chess players during the Cold War – an American and a Russian, and the songs One night in Bangkok and I know him so well were very popular! It was my dream, to see it live but I guess now it wouldn’t be the same to see it without the original artists.
The video is so very 80’s!
*) However I discovered two other films I really want to see – Brick Lane (great book by Monica Ali) and Brideshead Revisited (a book that features on the BBC’s The Big Read-list and I am have been very curious to read it, even though my brother says it’s crap!?).
PS I am sitting in the President’s Lounge at Newark Airport, at least one good thing about my 7 hour lay-over is that I get access to the lounge (thanks to my business class ticket) and internet!
