Monday again and I was extremely tired this morning and actually screamed when O tried to kiss me – he really scared me!! You see, he usually wakes me up by kissing me from his side of the bed, but today for some reason he walked around the bed and came up to me on my side of the bed, and I completely jumped! Poor guy…
We had a lovely weekend though and it is a short week since O has the day off tomorrow – election day not just in the US but also in Puerto Rico and most businesses will be closed. My Spanish lesson is also cancelled for tomorrow so it will be nice to have the whole Tuesday together. We might go to the beach and just relax.
Our first WD was celebrated with dinner in Il Mulino in the Ritz-Carlton, a very fancy restaurant but the pasta wasn’t as good as we had hoped. However, the atmosphere was great; romantic and intimate. We had a stroll around the pool area afterwards, listening to the coquís (local frogs) and enjoying the luxurious surroundings.
Saturday was holiday planning day – we finally booked our tickets for our November holidays!! We have been discussing the destination forever it seems and the contenders were the Southern states of Georgia, Alabama, northern Florida and Tennessee or Arizona but we are now off to … [drum-roll please]: the Pacific North-west, i.e Oregon and Washington!! Maybe not the best season to visit one of the wettest (?) regions in the US but O has a 2-day course in Seattle so his ticket is already paid for and I have always wanted to see this part of the US. One of my favourite films is set in Seattle; Singles – great film and great soundtrack! Tonight I am going to Borders to buy the appropriate Lonely Planet guide to start planning the holidays.
Yesterday we headed to Rincón on the west coast to meet up with Nick and Miri again – we had a lovely picnic almost on the beach while discussing Puerto Rican politics. Afterwards O and I went to the newly renovated lighthouse and the surf spot Domes to watch surfers and crabs (equally difficult to photograph). We didn’t wait for the sunset, which originally was the idea but we will just have to go back before leaving Puerto Rico.
