New month and the February themes have been chosen by Fritt ur hjärtat-Simone in Uddevalla, and are as follows:
6th February: Bags (Väskor)
13th February: Closest to the heart (Närmast hjärtat)
20th February: Coffee (Kaffe)
27th February: Indispensable (Oumbärglig)
I thought that last Friday’s theme was perfect for me, as we are currently living in suitcases – and will continue doing so for another month or more. However, even though I took some photos, I didn’t get around to actually publishing them on time last week. However, better late than never…
I have the bad habit of never unpacking when I travel so the suitcase becomes very messy after a few days. O and I brought three suitcases from Puerto Rico – the big one was full of clothes, medium-sized one was just for presents (and still is as we have lots of things left for O’s family in Spain) and the smallest one was for cables, chargers (laptops x3, cameras x2, mobile phones x4) and shoes!
One of today’s projects is to start preparing the luggage for the next leg of our European tour; Brussels. We will leave some of the thickest winter sweaters, books etc in Sweden, and hopefully we won’t get into any trouble when flying with RyanAir from Brussels (Charleroi) to Zaragoza next week. Hence the [very old] scales for checking the weight of the suitcases…
When I am not carrying around luggage, I prefer my favourite handbag from Longchamps (just like Lia in Lund – I know that it looks like I have imitated her photo but I promise that I took this one before I saw her Friday post!!). I bought a blue one when I started working for EuropeAid at the Commission in 2004, but it was worn out by the time I finished my contract in 2007 (the corners of the bag tend to get holes unfortunately) and I bought a new black one. It is a perfect work bag, as long as you don’t need to bring too much work home.
What I really like about the Longchamps bags is that they are very neutral (especially good when married to a Spaniard who believes that shoes and handbags should always match!) and quite water-resistant (good in a rainy climate such as Belgium and Puerto Rico*). I always feel safer when carrying my handbag right under the arm – less risk of pick-pockets and handbag-snatchers, and the bag itself is very flat and doesn’t take up a lot of space. The only draw-back is that it only has one small inside-pocket and I always have problems finding my keys, pens etc. I guess that I should try to carry less stuff around – O has started calling my bag the Mary Poppins-bag!!
I apologise once again for not having enough time to check out everybody’s interpretations of the Friday theme, but I will try to be on time next Friday… Other Friday theme bloggers can be found here: Anki, Anna, Anne, Annika, Cecilia, Christel, Desiree, Emma, Erica, IngaBritt, Jemaya, Jennie, Lena, Leopardia, Lia, Mais-oui, Marianne, Marie, Marina, Marskatten, Mia, Mia D, Millan, Moster Mjölgumpa, Musikanta, Nilla, Petra H, Saltis, Sara, Simone, Sparkling, Strandmamman, Taina, Under Ytan, and Victoria.
*) You didn’t think that Belgium and Puerto Rico would have weather in common? Well, Puerto Rico is in the tropics and it rains quite a lot – but the sun is of course shining more often than in Belgium!
