White Brussels became grey Brussels again overnight. In other words, back to normal 😦 I admit, it has been very cold and slippery to walk on the snowy cobbled pavements and streets but it was so beautiful that I didn’t mind!
But who knows, Brussels might become white again – at the moment we have a light snow fall (mixed with some rain) and it is supposed to get colder again. O took public transport (tram and metro) to work a few times this week, after it took him 2 hours to get home on Wednesday! It was a smart decision as we still don’t have winter tyres on the car – the appointment for changing tyres is set for the 17th December… A bit late but at least we will drive a little safer to Sweden on the 22nd.
Yesterday we took the tram and metro to meet up with my old classmate and his wife. It was snowing like crazy but we had a cosy afternoon indoors, first lunch in Le Pain Quotidien and then fika at their place with lit candles and a [fake] fire. We could have stayed all evening chatting and sharing experiences but we will just have to meet up again soon.
Back at home O made a simple but delicious fish dish in the oven and onion soup with cheese toast, and then we watched a beautiful but sad film: Into the wild. I loved the songs by my old favourite, Eddie Vedder (singer of Pearl Jam).
Today I will bake an apple pie to bring to our friends, the newly married Swedish-Cypriot couple who have invited us for a glögg advent’s fika.
Happy 2nd Advent!
