As you all know by now, we like Ikea to the extent that we had one of our first dates there as well as our wedding [meatball] lunch. We probably go to Ikea once a month, and yesterday was our second trip to the “mothership”* in 2011 (first time was in Sweden in January). This is what we did and bought at Ikea on Saturday:
O had the meatballs of course but I chose the salmon, which was [surprisingly] yummy – except for that thing that is centre top on my plate, I couldn’t figure out what it was!? And for dessert we shared a slice of daim cake.
Are they going to fit all the boxes in their cars? No! Yes? It was quite amusing to follow the couple on the right struggle to pack the car until we realised that they were cheating – they had brought TWO cars to Ikea! (but still didn’t leave the parking with the cars packed legally…)
We are such Ikea nerds! At Christmas we met up with an old friend of a friend who works for the bed and wardrobe department at an Ikea store, and both O and I immediately said (separately, 10 minutes apart): “Oh, Pax!” (Pax is the big Ikea wardrobe system). I don’t know if the guy was impressed or just thought that we were pathetic, ha ha!
*) The “mothership” is what the Swedish expat bloggers call Ikea as it reminds us of home and you can get certain Swedish food in the Swedish shop.
