Brussels is full of surprises! This morning I walked down a street in my old neighbourhood and I noticed banners in different languages hanging from balconies and on the house fronts. At first I didn’t really understand why, until I saw that they all had the “shield” of the Etterbeek municipality and it said “Parcours proverbes” – the route / path of proverbs! It almost sounds biblical, doesn’t it?
An Irish proverb:
The thickest spikes are the ones that bend the head the most – eh? Somebody has a better translation? “The heaviest ear of grain bends its head the lowest” which generally means that a great talent can be humble too… Thanks Mary T!
Read more about the “Parcours proverbes” here – in French. Apparently there is a audio guide for the banners, that you can listen to while strolling around the neighbourhood (audio guide to be found in the Town hall (Commune of Etterbeek).
